Purpose of the role

As part of the horizontal team working for an ambitious and comprehensive revision of the farm animal welfare legislation, you are responsible for a cluster of Member States, acting as the primary point of contact, liaison and strategist for Eurogroup for Animals’ members based in these countries. We are currently seeking two Political Advisers to cover the following distinct regions:

• Position 1: Nordic cluster (primarily Denmark, Sweden, and Finland);
• Position 2: Southern European cluster (including Spain).

In close collaboration with our members, you  carry out advocacy activities towards EU institutions related to your cluster of countries whilst executing our political strategy. You work closely with the communications and technical teams to deliver excellent lobby outcomes.

Essential skills & qualifications

• A degree in political science, law or similar.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of EU public affairs, including in-depth knowledge of EU policy making and influencing processes.
• Fluency in English (spoken and written).
• Analytical skills.
• Flexible and pragmatic.
• Resilient nature and ability to handle stress and higher workload periods at times, as well as changing environments.
• Affinity with animal welfare issues and commitment towards Eurogroup for Animals’ mission.

Desirable skills

• Background in animal advocacy.
• Fluency in one of the languages of the attributed cluster (e.g., Danish, Swedish, or Finnish for Position 1; Spanish for Position 2).
• Advocacy experience in one of the countries within the specific cluster (Nordic or Southern European).
• Knowledge of Salesforce and Project Management tools.
